New Bill Would Drug Expectant Mothers

A proposed bill now in congress titled ‘The Mothers Act’ would treat expectant mothers with anti-depressant drugs to avoid postpartum depression.

This is literally the most insane idea I’ve ever heard. Giving anti-depression drugs to pregnant women.. the same drugs that are proven no better than a placebo and the cause behind every shooting massacre in recent history is now being proposed into law.

First, these drugs have never been approved for use on babies. When an expectant mother takes them, it’s transferred directly into the babies bloodstream. With the side effects reported in adults, you can imagine the effects on an unborn baby. The real effects won’t be know for decades until after it’s too late.

Second, it’s a principle issue, freedom. We should not be encouraged to take chemicals (pharmaceutical drugs) disguised as something that will help. We have the right to make decisions regarding our own health and not be mandated to take drugs by the government.

This literally is a way to guarantee profits to big pharmaceutical companies (and the politicians that help them) by creating a program to educate mothers to take the drugs.

One mother of two, Amy Philo, has gone through severe problems with anti-depressants or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). After having them prescribed by several doctors after her first born, she begin having thoughts about killing herself and her baby. After reporting these to her doctor she was told to increase her dosage! The symptoms continued to get worse. She then followed her heart and stopped all anti-depression drugs returned to her normal self. She’s now heading up a campaign to stop the ‘Mothers Act’.
