Even Small Weight Gain Increases Risk of Disease

Many people don’t worry about those few extra pounds thinking it doesn’t matter. Surprise, according to a recent study, even modest weight gain increases the risk of disease, specifically kidney disease as noted in this study.
This study noted that even a modest weight gain of as little as 1.7 pounds showed the highest risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD has been a known risk factor in obesity, although researchers were surprised at the risk increase with such modest weight gain.
The research team followed 8792 healthy men ages 30-59 years with no known risk factors for CKD between 2002 and 2007.
Other studies have shown increased risks in adding belly fat specifically, although this is the first to show increased risks with such relatively small weight gain.

The best way to avoid increased disease risks to eat a primarily plant based diet of fresh, organic foods, reduce stress and get plenty of sleep.
To your best health!
