Don’t Drink From That Hotel Glass!
A recent undercover investigative report showed how national chain hotel housekeeping staff clean, or rather don’t clean, the drinking glasses. You have to watch this video below and be prepared to cringe.
This practice isn’t limited to just glasses, a recent University of Virginia study found that 1/3 of the things we touch in hotel rooms are contaminated with viruses.
So how do you travel and feel comfortable in your hotel room?
I recommend the following:
- Don’t use the glasses! Bring your own cups or use sealed plastic cups provided.
- When you first get into the room, wipe down most of the common things you’d touch like remote controls, phones, faucets, etc with a natural baby wipe or hot wash cloth.
Overall, your best defense in any situation, regardless of where you stay, is a strong immune system. Bacteria, germs and viruses are around us every day. They can only do us harm if our immune system is weakened and not working optimally.
As always, I recommend the following for a strong immune system:
- Eat mainly fresh, organic, raw foods
- Remove processed and junk foods from your diet
- Drink lots of pure, spring or distilled water
- Get out in the sun every day, at least 30 minutes
- Minimize your exposure to toxins
- Stay active every day, at least 30-60 minutes
- Get plenty of rest
- Keep a positive outlook on life
- Maintain positive relationships
- Reduce the effects of stress in your life
A strong immune system is your goal. All the best for your health!
