All Jacked Up: The Junk Food Movie Food Companies Don’t Want You To See
I just learned about a new documentary film that exposes the truth behind the junk and processed food industry and the effect on our children. It’s called ‘All Jacked Up’ and features interviews with both top health and nutrition experts as well as real teenagers as they share their traumatic experiences with living on junk food.
Logically, we think we know that junk food is bad for us and that we know the whole story. But this film will reveal the truth behind food corporations that you would have never imagined including the use of manipulative marketing practices, the ingredients used in many processed foods like high fructose corn syrup that accelerates obesity and diabetes in children, how junk foods break up families, cause depression and even suicidal tendencies.
The movie doesn’t favor or promote any particular diet as the solution, mostly what’s wrong with junk food, processed food and fast food - basically the Standard American Diet (SAD).
There are graphic scenes of animals being processed that may not be appropriate for younger children, but teens should be fine.
It will change your perception about grabbing that burger, processed meat sandwich, soda, bag of chips or packaged snack… even just once. Or more importantly, feeding it to your children. It’s that powerful.
Personally, I see the effects of junk food on children regularly. I volunteer for lunch duty at my daughter’s school weekly and see what 6, 7 and 8 year olds eat for lunch. I’m sorry to say it’s not good. Processed meats and cheeses, soda, all kinds of processed and colored ‘drinks’, colored candies of all types, colored and fried chips, and even gooey stuff in tubes that I can’t identify. For curiosity I sometimes read the labels and more often than not they’re packed with chemicals, junk and fillers including MSG, nitrates, high fructose corn syrup, dyes and artificial ingredients. I’m shocked that parents would feed this garbage to their children! The children who eat these foods are normally very animated after lunch, can’t stop moving and then by mid afternoon are hungry again and moody.
If you have children, work with children, know someone who has children or enjoy junk food yourself, this movie is a must see. With the rising rates of child obesity and increases of adult diseases found in children, something has to be done. Our children will become tomorrows America. What kind of country and family do we want?
